The following Scholarships are offered annually:

This scholarship is by examiner nomination.

ASB Public Speaking and Communication
Founders’ Scholarship
(One)
Awarded to an ASB candidate who has completed both Theory and Practical examinations and intends to take up LSB study. Candidates may apply once they have completed all Practical modules and Theory credits. This award takes the form of one free entry for each of the three modules of the LSB Practical examination and one free entry into each of the eight Theory credit examinations, whether taken by examination at the twice-yearly Theory examinations, by written assignment or by cross-credit.
Candidates must apply for these scholarships by submitting copies of their Practical  reports, together with their name and address.

CANDIDATES

It is the responsibility of candidates applying for Scholarships to send into the Board by the closing date copies of their three Honours reports, together with their name and address.

 

Closing date is 17 December 2010.
Applicants will be advised of the outcome mid-February 2011

The Board reserves the right not to award any or all Scholarships

 

Speech NZ and Geyser Community Foundation scholarships

 Applications are now open for two scholarships for Rotorua residents who want to enrol for Speech New Zealand examinations towards the following qualifications:

  • Associate of Speech New Zealand in Speech and Drama Performance

  • Associate of Speech New Zealand in Speech and Drama Teaching

  • Associate of Speech New Zealand in Public Speaking and Communication Performance

  • Associate of Speech New Zealand in Public Speaking and Communication Teaching

Applicants must have completed Grade 8 Speech NZ examinations in Speech and Drama or in Public Speaking. Each of the two successful applicants will be awarded a scholarship that will cover the Speech NZ examination fee for the seven modules of the Associate of Speech NZ examinations. The examination fee will be reimbursed on successful completion of each of the modules. The value of each scholarship is $710. Applicants who have already completed up to two modules towards Associate of Speech NZ are also eligible and will receive the examination fee for the modules that they have completed as well as for the modules they still have to complete. All payments of the scholarships will be made by direct credit to the scholarship holders’ bank accounts.

The successful applicants will be required to be available for promotional interviews for the Geyser Community Foundation and for Speech New Zealand and information about their scholarships will be used in promotional material for the two organisations.

The successful candidates will be selected by a committee of the Board of Speech NZ. Applications close on 19 November 2010.

  • the name of your speech teacher and your school, if applicable

  • your performance in previous Speech NZ examinations, including evidence of having achieved two modules at Grade 8

  • your career ambitions and the ways in which your speech training will help you.

UNA EWART SCHOLARSHIP
The Una Ewart scholarship is awarded annually only in the Rotorua examination centre to students who have been nominated by the examiners during the three tours held in Rotorua each year.
At the end of the year a selection is made of a Senior and Junior student from the nominations made.
A presentation is made where certificates and cheques are presented
